Emily Carr University's Summer Teen Programs are immersive pre-university programs designed for students aged 13–18, including international students, who are interested in art, design, animation, and media. Through hands-on studio courses led by experienced artists and designers, participants develop creative and technical skills, build a competitive portfolio, and experience university-level learning. Students also receive a Certificate of Completion upon successful participation. The university offers scholarships for eligible students to help make these programs more accessible. Junior Arts Institute (JAI) Age: 13–15 years Duration: 2 weeks Students choose one studio course, such as drawing, illustration, animation, or design. Focuses on developing foundational creative skills through hands-on projects. 2. Summer Institute for Teens (SIT) Age: 16–18 years Duration: 4 weeks (approximately 120 hours) An immersive pre-university program where students create portfolio-quality projects, learn from practicing artists and designers, and experience university-level studio learning. The program concludes with a public exhibition of student work and participants receive a Certificate of Completion.
